The SAIL databank is a large collection of interlinked datasest related to health data promarily in Wales. It is used for social and health related research.. A central aspect of the datset is that it connects all the relevent data about an indvidual including hosipital visits, GP appointemnts and also data from local government etc. In order to link new datsets all ingested data is matcehd against a special database of personally identifiable information, and then pseudonomised so that the unique id for each individual can be matched, but no identifiable information is present in the data saved for future processing. Even given this security and privacy are major issues with stringent access controls and no direct internet connections.
